This depiction of a 14th Century Scholar with a Bible tucked under his arm, his Diogenes lantern, his sword and his horn attached to his vest is the exact image of Emile-Louis Picault’s (French, 1833-1915) sculpture described in “Bronzes: Sculptors and Founders, 1800-1930,” Book Four, page 925, image number 3528, compiled by Harold Berman, published by Abage Publishing, Chicago.
The condition is excellent with exquisite dark patina and fine detail. The dimension is 8 inches tall, including the marble base. The name inscribed on the bronze reads “Ricard.”
